Bulldogs Look For More Defense

WILLIEEEEEEEEE 300x229 Bulldogs Look For More DefenseAthens, GA- Georgia's offense outgunned Arkansas last week for a 52-41 victory in which Joe Cox threw 5 touchdown passes and racked up a career high 375 yards passing. Richard Samuel showed some speed as he outraced the Arkansas defense on an 80 yard TD. Running back Caleb King made his season debut by gaining 60 yards on 11 carries. And, four different receivers, led by A.J. Green, scored for Georgia. The Dawgs used the last two games to get their offense rolling, racking up 41 points against South Carolina to go along with the 52 scored on Arkansas.
The Defense has been a different story. Although turnovers by the offense has put the defense in bad situations, the Bulldogs have given up a lot of yards and have allowed 24, 37 and 41 points in back to back to back games to open the season. The Dawgs currently rank last in the SEC in total defense and pass defense. If the Dawgs are to make a run at the SEC, Defense must get better!!!!!
With that said, Arizona State comes to Athens, Ga this Saturday facing their first true test of the year, after easy wins vs.Idaho State and La-Monroe. The Sun Devils have a great pass rusher in defensive end Dexter Davis, who teams up with tackle Lawrence Guy to form a great 1-2 punch within the defensive line. Speaking of defense, Arizona State is ranked #1 in the nation in total defense. And, as a team, they have the nations best turnover margin, forcing 8 turnovers and giving up only 1. With a rainy afternoon in the weather forecast, the Dawgs must focus on protecting the football and continue to get great production out of the offense, or this came could get interesting.
